About The Role

Part-Time Art Studio Reception & Teaching Assistant

Age/Experience Level:
> 18 years old. Graduates/students with related studies and exposure in art / arts management preferred. Preferably with previous part time or full time working experience, but Diploma/Degree students without prior work experience may apply too

Schedule Commitment:
Minimum 4 Months Period to 8 Months. Part-Time, fixed schedules (*may request for occasional shift adjustment or swapping), requirement to be able to commit for minimum of four months

Schedules:
Mon 6pm-10pm / Tue 3pm-6:30pm / Wed 6pm-10pm / Fri 6pm-10pm / Sat 10am-6:15pm / Sat 12:30pm-5pm / Sat 4pm-9:15pm / Sun 10am-6:15pm / Sun 10am-4pm

[Requirement to state availability for shifts and to choose at least 1 shift on a weekend]

Compensation:
$8-$15/hour depending on any previous work experience [May be discussed and based on areas of support/scope rendered]

Work Duties & Tasks
Main Area / Scope: Reception, Admin and Enquiry Response, Operations, Teaching Assistance (optional and to be discussed depending on candidate profile)

The candidate will be trained on the job to assist as an Art Studio Reception and Teaching Assistant during art classes and workshops at Visual Arts Centre / conducted by Visual Arts Centre and its team of professional art instructors.

Depending on the candidate’s previous experience, the candidate may support the basic operations of the VAC Art Studio such as the following:

  • Answering client enquiries, being responsive and polite
  • Registering students when they arrive for art classes
  • Setting student’s seats, providing them with the art materials and showing them around the art studio
  • Introducing basic materials / studio equipment, do‘s and don’ts to students
  • Being able to be responsive in a faster paced and customer-facing environment, and providing clients a quick response and assistance
  • In this role, the Art Studio Assistant is required to assist in maintaining Studio tidiness and keeping equipment before/after class, washing brushes and studio equipment after classes
  • The Art Studio Reception & Teaching Assistant shall be trained to perform coaching duties if he/she has an art background and/or some fine art skills and the scope of duty and readiness for the candidate to be assisting the main teacher may be discussed.

Suitability:

This position is suitable for candidates who are current students, recent graduates or have existing full time work but would like to work in a creative art studio environment and be exposed to an environment of art teaching / creative workshops.
