Purpose of the Role

An Account Director is primarily responsible for the management of relationships with clients. As the senior point of contact for an agency’s customers, the Account Director also co-ordinates the resources needed to service projects, builds strategic operational plans and balances the expectations of clients with the execution of creative work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Taking lead in key accounts and their marketing/campaign strategies.
  • Overseeing and nurturing the team, to provide guidance and mentorship.
  • Bringing inbound sales through the form of retainers or new pitches from existing clients
  • To be involved in management meetings on company direction and expansion.
  • Leading a team to provide the utmost level of client management and advisory.
  • Liaising with clients at a senior level on a day-to-day basis.
  • Promoting the expansion of business with existing clients.
  • Working with other senior managers to generate new accounts.
  • Completing projects to a specific schedule and within an agreed budget.
  • Using your skills to push clients, and the agency, creatively and strategically.
  • Maintaining assigned relationships with clients, establishing self and DSTNCT as an invaluable long-term partner for marketing, communications services and beyond.
  • Meeting and liaising with clients to discuss and identify their advertising requirements.
  • Working with agency colleagues to devise various campaigns that meet the client’s objectives and budget.
  • Ensuring effective communication flow.
  • Handling budgets and managing campaign costs.
  • Working on pitches with the pitch team and to take over the account when won.

Required Skills

  • Significant experience in professional client relationship management
  • Commercial awareness, A background in advertising, design, or marketing
  • The ability to plan and strategize at a senior level
  • A persuasive and confident approach to creative projects
  • Excellent written, oral communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Effective team management capabilities
  • A keen attention to detail and budgetary restraints
  • Full awareness of creative processes and techniques – including digital platforms
  • A proactive attitude, with the ability to use initiative;
  • Excellent organisational skills;
  • The ability to work under pressure and assimilate large quantities of information quickly, while maintaining attention to detail;
  • Influencing and negotiation skills;
