Job Advertisement: General Manager – The Projector

Location: Singapore (Golden Mile Tower and Cineleisure)

Position Overview:

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced General Manager to lead our team and drive the success of The Projector. The ideal candidate will possess a strong business acumen,  experience in Food and Beverage management, coupled with a genuine passion for arts and culture. As the General Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of our cinema and live entertainment operations, ensuring exceptional customer experiences, and fostering a vibrant and inclusive community atmosphere while ensuring business profitability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic leadership and direction to the team, fostering a culture of excellence, innovation, and collaboration.
  • Oversee day-to-day operations, including film and live events programming, ticketing, bar and restaurant operations, venue hire, marketing and facility maintenance, to ensure seamless and efficient execution.
  • Develop and implement strategies to drive revenue growth, optimize operational efficiency, and enhance the overall profitability of the business.
  • Own and manage the business P&L, managing a manpower budget and variable costs across different business lines
  • Manage a team of 35 Full time employees and 10 part time employees, managing hiring, compensation and career development
  • Cultivate strong partnerships with distributors, filmmakers, local artists, and cultural organizations to curate diverse and compelling film and other cultural programs and events.
  • Champion The Projector’s mission and values, actively engaging with the community and fostering relationships with patrons, stakeholders, and industry partners.
  • Drive community membership growth, building on existing membership base
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, health and safety standards, and industry best practices.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Hospitality Management, Film Studies, Economics or any related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive leadership experience in cinema or arts and entertainment management, hospitality, or related industry, with a proven track record of success.
  • Strong understanding of P&L and Cashflows. Ability and experience in having managed a P&L previously
  • Passion for arts and culture, with appreciation for cinema and community engagement.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a diverse team.
  • Strategic thinker with a results-oriented mindset, capable of driving innovation, growth, and operational excellence.
  • Knowledge of the Singaporean cinema landscape, cultural scene, and regulatory environment is highly desirable.
